The South coast of Devon boasts an array of wonderful beaches - from secluded coves to town beaches, from sheltered bays to surfing hot-spots. We've listed here just a few beaches within about a half hour's drive from the house.
Bantham Beach

Teignmouth beach is a long one, so you don’t need to worry about crowds. It stretches down from the mouth of the River Teign and is overlooked by an impressive Victorian Pier. You may find local fishermen mending their nets, a parade full of amusements and activities like catching sand eels and exploring rock pools.
Mothecombe Beach

If you want a beach holiday without the crowds, Mothecombe beach is one of the quieter beaches in South Devon. Large and unspoilt, it’s privately owned but open to the public on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. The owners have won an award from the Marine Conservation Society for keeping the sea and sands clean.

A beautiful beach for a traditional holiday. There’s plenty of facilities for snorkelling and scuba diving, but not much for surfers. Seal and dolphins are regular visitors to the shore.
